The four day festival will feature exquisite Caribbean food, wine, rum wrapped in a festive atmosphere. You will have a chance to taste the culinary skills of local chefs like Alfredo Baston and Mark DeGruchy. A lot of local restaurant are also extending their support by offering special menus for lunch and dinner.
The event will begin at Hilton Barbados with Moonlight and will go on till evening. Apert from tickiling your taste buds with all the finger licking cuisines you can watch the moonlight and daze in some beautiful music and drinks.
Fergus Henderson, one of the noted British chefs will join the fest along with Tom Colicchio, Marcus Samuelsson, Ming Tsai and Tim Love from America and a few mixologists and wine experts. Fergus’ St John restaurant, which has earned first Michelin star in the year 2009, is well known for making dishes out of neglected cuts of meat and offal.
On Saturday there will be demos at both the Fairmont Royal Pavilion and at the prestigious Sandy Lane Hotel. After which the visitors will be treated to rum demonstrations at the Mount Gay Visitor Centre. Further activities will take place at Lion Castle Polo Estate.
On Sunday, do not oversleep after the hangover and miss Tom Colicchio at St James' excellent Cliff Restaurant and a Taste of Two Cities at George Washington House between 11:00 and 14:00.
Other major attractions at the event would be live music and cooking demos, rum tastings and seminar on wines.
Chef Marcus Samuelsson
Chef Marcus Samuelsson, founder of Craft and Craft Bar restaurants was born in Ethiopia. Having been brought up in Sweden, he migrated to New York later. Being exposed to various cultures, Tom Colicchio will be a perfect choice in the food, wine and rum festival.
Events hosted by Barbados
Barbados have been home to various athletic championships, including the 2007 ICC Cricket World Cup Finals, PGA World Golf Championships in 2006, ICC Twenty20 Cricket Finals for 2010 etc.
Tickets
Individual tickets could be purchased on the day and avail of a 10% discount by booking for at least three events. Ticket prices vary from $45 for a wine tasting to $250 for a meal with Tom Colicchio, chief chef.
