Aruba Carnival 2008

Aruba CarnivalJanuary 4th - February 9th, 2008

Aruba Carnival, the biggest party of the year in Aruba and the Caribbeans, is a month-long celebration consisting of festive street parties, spectacular parades and creative contests. It is celebrated with great passion where the vibrant music and flamboyant costumes play the central role.

Aruba Carnival is vivacious and colorful that makes it one of a kind with visitors being the part of the festivity. Queen contests, musical competition, theme dances, grand parade, food fests and street parties keep the locals as well tourists entertained until the early morning hours that go on for days and weeks.

The two events that draw maximum admiration of the crowds are the Grand Children's Parade and the Lighting Parade. The Grand Children's Parade is a huge get together of several districts, social clubs and schools while the Lighting Parade is a unique night affair to remember, where people are decorated with beautiful lights. The Lighting Parade goes to the farthest point of dazzling glittery show time with miles of lighted fantasy floats and extravagantly stunning costumes. It is like a kaleidoscope of light in the Carnival shining brightly in the night and a tribute to the Aruban feeling of splendor.

On the evening before the start of Lent, Carnival officially comes to end with the symbolic burning of effigy of "King Momo".
