RSSThe Casa das Mudas Art Centre was set up to raise public awareness of modern art and the arts in general. It is located in Calheta on the west coast of Madeira.
The Centro das Artes has a covered area of 12,000 m2.
Earlier this year fantastic exhibition from the Berardo Collection, Grande Escala, one of the largest collections of contemporary art in the world, representing important 20th-century artistic trends such as pop art, photorealism and minimalism was on show. The exhibition included everything from figurative expressionism and nouveau realism to minimalism and post-modernism. Francis Bacon, David Salle, Eric Fischl, Jorg Immendorf, Francesco Clemente, Picasso and Dali are some of the famous signatures on the paintings on display.
The sculptures include works by Rebecca Horn, Tony Cragg, Shirazen Houshiary, Alexander Calder and Fernando Botero.
There are also photos by Christian Boltanski and Jorge Molder.
