Over the past decade, whale and dolphin watching has emerged as an exciting activity and more and more people are making whale and dolphin watching a part of their holidays. Dolphin and whale watching not just only teaches people to appreciate these cetaceans, but also helps researchers study them, contributes to the conservation of the animals, |
and ensure the economic security of local communities that protects the marine habitat.
The Straits of Gibraltar and surrounding area have proved to be an excellent place to see dolphins and occasionally whales. The Bay and Straits of Gibraltar, with their large population of Whales and Dolphins, are unique in being situated in a major tourist area accessible to most Western Europeans.
There are a number of tour operators arranging this amazing experience. The Gibraltar based operators mainly seem to see dolphins but occasionally see pilot whales. There are several different operators out of Gibraltar which all advertise locally. It may be necessary to book at busy times e.g. half term weeks so we've provided the contact numbers.
