Mahe Danzil to Anse Major Follows the rocky coastline of Northwest Mahe to the secluded Anse Major beach, much of the trail is within the Morne Seychellois National Park. |
It should take 13 hours to Anse Major and slightly quicker to return...an early start is suggested as there is little shade.
Glacis to Anse Etoile
Takes minor roads across Mahe's northern hills covered in coconuts, then a fairly steep climb to the hamlet of La Gogue with a gentle descent to the picturesque reservoir behind La Gogue Dam. Around 3 hours long and graded as Easy, buses are available from the Anse Etoile end point. Again, start early in the day to minimize sun exposure.
Victoria/Beau Vallon
Travel both the main road and minor roads passing through the historical section of Victoria. Refreshments can be purchased en route. This walk can be done in either direction, is rated as “easy” and should take about 90 minutes.
Les Trois Freres
The path leads through part of the Morne Seychellois National Park to the summit of the mountain overlooking Victoria. It is spectacular with some of the most beautiful views in the world. However, it is very steep, graded Medium to Difficult and care must be taken to stay on the path. It takes 2 hours to reach the summit and another hour for the return.
Tea Factory to Morne Blan
Another walk through the fantastic foliage of the Morne Seychellois National Park, this shaded, steady climb takes about an hour. It is graded as Medium and an early start will avoid both the sun and the afternoon mountain mist.
La Reserve and Brulee
Containing one of Mahe's best remaining palm forests with 5 of the 6 unique Seychelles palm present along the walk. Rated as a Medium, rich tropical forests, granite cliffs and boulders can be seen from a choice of several routes; allowing 2-3 hours is recommended.
Praslin
Vallee De Mai National Park
Many believe this the site of the original Garden of Eden. It is by far the most famous of all Seychelles walks through one of the richest, pristine tropical forests in the world. Home to the famous Coco de Mer palm and its even more famous nut, this Easy walk can take from 45 minutes to 2 hours depending on your route. There is a small fee to enter the park but it is worth it.
La Digue
La Pass to Grand Anse
This Easy yet stunning walk introduces the variety of La Digue's scenery. Either by foot or by bicycle it passes French colonial era houses, woodlands, a marsh to reach the spectacular Grand Anse beach. The return leads through small villages and the home of the Black Paradise Flycatcher bird; 2 hours should be allowed.
