Underground caves in Cuba

Cuba has an abundance of calcareous rocks that have formed some of the highest caverns of the Caribbean region over time. The most renowned cavern in Cuba is the La Gran Caverna de Santo Tomás.


Several caverns are found in La Sierra de los Organos (Pinar del Río) that are of fluvial origin. Some of these caverns also have underground galleries that form a larger system like the cavern of Santo Tomás that is more than 45 Km in length.

The legendary Bellamar Cave, in Matanzas is a fascinating and popular cave frequented by locals and visitors alike.

Cuyagüateje, Cueva del Cable, Cueva del Simón, de Paredones, del Indio, de los Tomates, de Quintanal, Astón, de Cagagüanes, de Palmarito, de Bitirí, Revuelta de los Chinos, de la Patana, Solapos de Jaruco and Caleta del Rosario are some of the caves that can be explored in Cuba. These caves promise to be an adventurous experience and offer some fascinatingly great views.

 

A breathtaking submarine cave, Punta Francés can be found In La Isla de la Juventud. Near the Guardalavaca beach, are a unique group of interesting caves known as Los Tanques Azules de la Vecina Gibara.
