Sailing and canoeing along the coast of Umm Al Quwain, visitors gain a unique perspective of this serene emirate and its famed mangrove swamps which are home to a variety of seabirds, fish and insects. The much-loved pink flamingos, jumping fish, turtles, crabs and rays can all be spied amongst the mangrove thickets.
Umm Al Quwain Marine Club and Riding Centre which are just a stone’s throw from the fish souq, are situated on a large stretch of shaded beach overlooking the lagoon. Established in 1979, the riding club, at one time boasted than 40 horses and an accomplished team of qualified riding instructors.
For enthusiasts of extreme sports, The Umm Al Quwain Aeroclub offers a comprehensive package of thrilling and fun-filled engagements. It was custom built in 2004, under the patronage of Sheikh Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Mualla and has the distinction of being the first aviation club in the UAE. The club is the only one of its kind in the country to offer Skydiving lessons; it has over 175 members, over half of being them being overseas nationals and European expatriates.
The airport within this flying establishment has 6 hangars, a 1.800m runway with N-VFR lighting and a coffee shop. Home to a vintage Antonow-2 Bi-Plane and an Iljuschin-76 Cargoplane, The Umm Al Quwain Aeroclub has hosted skiving and parachute championships since 2005. Furthermore, it has facilities for hot air ballooning, skydiving (single & tandem) parachuting and paramotoring in the UAE. Lessons and training are imparted all the year round by experienced GCAA certified instructors and pilots. And members can choose from a well-stocked fleet that includes microlights, gliders, Cessnas and a plane for aerobatics.
The Umm Al Quwain Motor Racing Club which is on the city side of Dreamland Aquapark has three purpose built arenas that offer participants the speed, thrill and exhilaration of off-road dune buggy racing and motor hiking.
